Tirumala is known for the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple on Tirumala seven hills at the seventh peak called Venkatadri. This temple of seven hills gives darshan to the devotees as lord Venkateswara, a form of Vishnu and here he is referred to as Kaliyuga Pratyaksha daivam. Kalahasti lord Shiva temple which is one of the Panchabhuta Kshetras of lord Shiva. The Lord is here worshipped as Vayu Lingam in the name of SriKalahasteeswara. The word Srikalahasti is derived from Sri means ‘Spider’, Kala means ‘Snake’ and Hasti means ‘Elephant’. Vayudeva, the wind god, did worship for thousands of years to the Karpoora lingam(lord Shiva as linga made of Camphor). Lord Shiva was impressed by his devotion and blessed him with three desires. Then, Vayu deva desired for his presence everywhere in the world. Lord Shiva blessed him to present in the form of air (Vayu). Later, the linga worshipped by Vayu deva was named as Vayu Lingam and is now being worshipped by all devotees.
The tour is operated by train and has a ticket fare of Rs.7290 for an adult and Rs. 6250 for a child whose age is between 5 to 11 years. Children whose age is above 11 years old are considered adults and will have the same adult ticket fare. Children below 5 years old don’t require a ticket.
